Reaching out with creativity
As we gear up for the launch of our tenth Centre of Excellence in Lysson’s, St Thomas, a group of Digicel Foundation volunteers, accompanied by members of the Shenstone Baptist Church in Canada spent a fun-filled day with teenagers with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities making various works of art and craft. The teens created fantastic pieces of artwork using paints, crayons and other items. Persons with intellectual and physical disabilities often have difficulty communicating in conventional ways. Therefore, creative art expression allows them to communicate their feelings while empowering them to display ideas and vision with visual and tactile aids.
