Unified footballers pipped by ‘Fighting French’

With huge smiles and an extra pep in their steps, Jamaica’s Special Olympics Unified Football team returned to the island, after placing an impressive second place at the Special Olympics Toyota Unified Football Cup division two final in Chicago.

The team fought valiantly, but were clipped by Special Olympics France who took the gold for a 1-0 victory. It was clear that France was bent on achieving another victory just like their World Cup team did.

Still, Jamaica’s team coach, Shane Richards had high praises for the team. He commented, “We defended stoutly, we played with a few niggles and we fought, but the lapse in concentration caused that goal. But there were positives with some players coming out and playing well,”

We are so very proud of our athletes who continue to shine at home and abroad.
