Javail goes back to school

Lively, excited and oh so joyful, one forgets about little Javail Pennant’s challenge with hearing moments after meeting him. Three-year-old Javail Pennant was born with aural atresia, a condition whereby his external ear canal is all but absent. This condition has resulted in his inability to hear clearly. However, in early December, he was fitted with a bone conductor headset, a special type of hearing aid, which converts sounds into vibrations which are then sent through the bones of the skull directly to the inner ear. Javail was fitted with this special device by the Starkey Hearing Foundation through a partnership with Digicel Foundation.
